Dr Cindy Si
BSc BVMS | Practice Owner
A 2001 Murdoch University graduate and the driving force behind KSAH.
Dr. Cindy brings a unique, research-driven perspective to veterinary medicine. Dr Cindy is committed to both her own and her team’s continuous professional development, ensuring KSAH patients receive the most modern treatments and highest standard of care available.
With a background ranging from animal shelter work to published human stroke research, she combines scientific precision with a compassionate, well-rounded approach to patient care.
Special Interests and Skills:
Surgery: Advanced soft tissue procedures (eg skin flap surgeries, intestinal foreign body removals).
Small Animal Medicine: Management of complex medical cases (eg geriatric patients with multiple health issues).
Ophthalmology: A dedicated focus on eye health and treatments (eg diamond burr procedure, entropion surgery).

Beyond the clinic: When she isn’t at the hospital, Dr Cindy is likely hiking, traveling, or tending to her indoor plant collection. She is a busy mum to two energetic boys and her rescue dog, Kylo, and never says no to a high-quality cup of coffee.
Dr Emma Sharples
BSc BVMS
A Murdoch University graduate, Dr Emma joined KSAH in 2010.
Known for her warm and compassionate approach, Dr Emma is dedicated to building lasting relationships with both pets and their owners. She finds great fulfilment in helping unwell animals regain their comfort, health, and vitality, while ensuring each patient receives thoughtful, individualised care.

Small Animal Medicine: Managing patients with multiple health concerns and developing tailored treatment plans that support long-term comfort and quality of life.
Patient Care: Focused on long-term wellbeing, comfort, and quality of life for her patients.
Client Relationships: Building trusted connections with pets and their families through compassionate communication and support.
Beyond the clinic: Dr Emma enjoys spending time with her son and twin toddlers, especially beach days and family camping trips.
Dr Kristy Ta
BSc BVMS
Dr Kristy dreamed of becoming a veterinarian since a young age. This turned into reality when she qualified as a veterinary surgeon in 2018.
Early in her studies, Dr Kristy regularly volunteered at a local animal shelter during. This allowed her to observe the behaviour of numerous dogs and cats, and be exposed to animals whose lives were affected by behavioural issues such as excess fear and anxiety. Her ultimate goal now is to assist animals in leading calmer and stress free lives.

Behavioural Assessments: Management of complex behavioural cases, including fear, anxiety, and aggression-related concerns.
Fear-Free Techniques: Gentle handling approaches designed to reduce stress, fear, and anxiety during veterinary visits.
Small Animal Medicine: Diagnosis and management of complex medical cases, working with owners to develop practical and effective treatment plans.

Beyond the clinic: Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her Jack Russell x Chihuahua, Koko, and her cheeky cat, Wilson, and has developed a love for baking bread and caring for her fruit plants.
Dr Jessica Collier
BSc BVMS
A 2018 graduate of Murdoch University, Dr Jess was raised in the Perth Hills where she developed a deep affinity for animals from a young age. From bottle-feeding lambs to fostering a variety of wildlife including kittens, possums, and nectarivorous birds, her early experiences caring for animals shaped her lifelong goal of becoming a veterinarian.
Dr Jess brings a calm, compassionate, and thorough approach to veterinary medicine, with a strong focus on building trust with both pets and their people.
Special Interests and Skills:
Small Animal Medicine: Work-up and management of complex medical cases, including endocrine disorders and geriatric patients.
Pain Management: Developing tailored pain management plans to improve comfort and quality of life.
Fear-Free Techniques: Gentle handling techniques that prioritise reducing stress and anxiety for patients during their visits.
Beyond the clinic: Outside of work, Dr Jess enjoys cross stitching and creative crafting, as well as getting outdoors hiking and running with her partner. At home, she is kept entertained (and thoroughly ruled) by her two mischievous rescue cats, Nico and Finn.
Dr Bronte Lygo
DVM
A 2022 graduate of Murdoch University, Dr Bronte originally moved from Adelaide to Perth to study veterinary science and hasn’t looked back.
She grew up with a black Labrador named Harry, who served as a canine companion for her autistic brother. She has seen first-hand how impactful animals can be on everyone’s life, and this fueled her love for all things animals and veterinary medicine.
Dr Bronte finds great joy in meeting the members of her community and finding connection through their pets.

Pain management: Creating personalised pain management plans for a wide variety of acute and chronic conditions.
Small Animal Medicine: Diagnosis and treatment of complex medical cases, with a strong interest in improving the long-term quality of life for pets.
Neurodiversity-Affirming Practices: Experience with structured communication and empathetic, accessible veterinary care for neurodivergent people.
Beyond the clinic: Dr Bronte loves reading, trying new cafes, and baking up a storm, which means we often get lots of yummy treats!
Dr Vanessa Liu
DVM
A graduate of the University of Melbourne, Dr Vanessa brings experience spanning emergency medicine, animal rescue shelter care, and general practice, allowing her to take a thoughtful and well-rounded approach to patient care. She is passionate about delivering high-quality veterinary medicine, with a particular focus on feline patients.
Special Interests and Skills:
Surgery: Soft tissue surgery, including routine sterilisation procedures, wound management, and lump removals.
Small Animal Medicine: Management of general medical cases, including pain management and osteoarthritis, with a special interest in feline medicine.
Languages: English and Mandarin
Beyond the Clinic: Dr Vanessa enjoys pilates, hiking, photography, and searching for unique collectibles—currently focusing on WA souvenir coins.
She is a proud cat owner, a dedicated coffee enthusiast, and loves exploring new restaurants.
Vet Nurses
Our veterinary nurses are all qualified and registered Certificate IV Veterinary Nurses, dedicated to providing exceptional care and support for both pets and their owners. With a strong focus on patient wellbeing, compassion, and teamwork, our nurses play an essential role in every stage of your pet’s care.
Emma RVN Head Nurse
Emma joined the KSAH team in 2013. Emma has a remarkable talent for connecting with feline companions and creating a welcoming environment where your beloved cats can feel truly at ease.
As Head Nurse, Emma plays an essential role in the day-to-day running of the hospital, helping ensure the clinic operates smoothly while maintaining a high standard of patient care.
Special Interests and Skills:
Continuing Education: Has completed multiple continuing professional development courses in anaesthesia, surgical nursing, emergency care, leadership, and more.
Fear Free Certified: Passionate about creating a low-stress, positive experience for patients through Fear Free handling techniques.
Feline CKD Care: Hands-on experience caring for feline patients with chronic kidney disease.
Leadership & Patient Care: Dedicated to supporting both her team and patients while helping maintain the high standards of care at KSAH.
Beyond the clinic: Emma has a beloved furry family including her cats Clover, Fergus, and Crumpet, as well as Alfie, a dog who came into the clinic in poor condition under the care of the City of Stirling Rangers. Within two days, Emma decided to give Alfie a forever home and nursed him back to health.
Outside of work, Emma enjoys playing footy, snorkelling, scuba diving, and travelling to explore new destinations.
Rhianna RVN
Rhianna joined the KSAH team in 2016. Her passion for working with animals grew through volunteer work and a lifetime of being surrounded by pets, leading her to pursue a career in veterinary nursing.
Rhianna is dedicated to advocating for her patients and providing the highest standard of care to every animal she works with. Known for her calm and organised approach, she plays an important role in ensuring the smooth running of the clinic and supporting patients throughout their treatment and recovery.
Special Interests and Skills:
Surgical Nursing: Assisting with surgical procedures and supporting patient care throughout surgery and recovery.
Dentistry: Enjoys dental procedures and helping improve the long-term health and comfort of patients through dental care.
Organisation: Passionate about maintaining efficient workflows within the clinic.
Beyond the clinic: Rhianna enjoys ice skating lessons and spending time at the beach during the warmer months, usually with a good book and an iced vanilla latte in hand.
Michie RVN
Michie brings a unique veterinary background to her nursing role, having worked as a veterinarian in Japan for eight years, primarily with cattle, before moving to Australia and graduating from TAFE in 2020. Her varied experience has shaped her calm, practical, and hands-on approach to patient care. She is a dedicated and hard-working nurse who enjoys providing thoughtful, high-quality care to every patient she works with.
Special Interests and Skills:
Anaesthetic Nursing: A strong interest in general anaesthesia, patient monitoring, and supporting patients throughout surgical procedures.
Diagnostic Imaging: Enjoys assisting with imaging and diagnostic procedures.
Fear Free Care: Fear Free Certified, with a focus on gentle handling and helping patients feel as calm and comfortable as possible.
Exotic Animal Nursing: Interested in the nursing care of exotic pets, including birds and small mammals, with a particular passion for rabbit care, welfare, husbandry, and enrichment.
Languages: Japanese and English.
Beyond the clinic: Michie’s love for animals continues well beyond the clinic. She runs PyonPyon, her handmade rabbit treat and enrichment business, and supports rabbit rescue through fostering. At home, life is usually shared with a good coffee, Pilates, and her beagle, Nagi — whether they are heading out for a walk or settling in for couch time after a busy day.
Teaghan RVN
Teaghan joined the KSAH team in 2017. She initially gained valuable work experience with us before eventually becoming a member of our vet nurse team. Teaghan enjoys being the welcoming face at our front desk.
Special Interests and Skills:
Wildlife Care: Passionate about educating the public on the proper care of injured wildlife and providing supportive care for wildlife patients before they are transferred to rescue organisations.
Client Communication: Dedicated to ensuring clients and their pets feel supported and cared for throughout every stage of their visit, helping create a positive clinic experience for both owners and their animals.
Reception & Patient Support: Enjoys building connections with clients while helping the day-to-day flow of the clinic run smoothly and efficiently.
Beyond the clinic: Teaghan enjoys cosplay, drawing, and all things pop culture. At home, she shares a busy and loving household with her husband, two children, her cats Loki and Astrid, and her feathered companion, Blue.
Sasha RVN
Sasha first joined the KSAH team in 2021 while completing her vet nurse work experience.
Sasha especially loves meeting all of your furry family members and always keeps an eye out for any new kitten patients who might need a little extra cuddle time.
Special Interests and Skills:
Fear Free Certified: Passionate about using Fear Free techniques in clinic to help create a calm, low-stress environment for every patient.
Clinical Experience: Enjoys hands-on nursing work including assisting in surgery, monitoring anaesthesia, and supporting patient care throughout their hospital stay. She also values client communication and strives to ensure every visit is a positive experience for both pets and their owners.
Volunteering: Previous volunteer role at Cat Haven, assisting with adoptions and helping ensure every cat found a safe and loving forever home. Currently volunteers with Pets of Older Persons WA, walking dogs for clients who are unable to exercise them due to age-related health issues, helping people and their pets stay connected and cared for.
Beyond the clinic: Sasha enjoys baking treats for the team, camping, chasing the best sunsets, and spending time with her two cats, cross-eyed Crumpet and the fabulous Chelsea.
Maria RVN
Maria joined our team in 2024. She loves being part of the KSAH family and enjoys building connections with both clients and their pets each day.
Maria has a special soft spot for greyhounds and hopes to one day welcome one (or many) into her home.
Special Interests and Skills:
Fear Free Certified: Passionate about making sure your furry friends feel safe and comforted during their visits by using fear free techniques at every opportunity.
Customer Service: Strives to go the extra mile to ensure every client and patient has a positive experience, with kindness and compassion at the centre of every interaction.
Cleaning & Organisation: Enjoys restoring order after a busy day in clinic and takes pride in helping maintain a clean, organised, and welcoming environment.
Beyond the clinic: Maria cares for her sweet one-eyed cat, Delilah, along with several tarantulas, fish, and a growing collection of houseplants. A passionate musician, she plays piano and guitar and sings in her church choir. Her creative side also shines through hobbies including tower bell change ringing, pyrography, mosaics, and just about any craft she can get her hands on.
Customer Relations Team
Larissa
Larissa is one of the colourful, friendly faces at Karrinyup Small Animal Hospital reception. With a passion for cats and a strong background in animal rescue, she brings a wealth of knowledge and compassion to the KSAH team.
Before joining KSAH, Larissa worked at a cat shelter across multiple roles, with a particular love for working within the foster department. She has also worked in triage at an emergency veterinary clinic, gaining valuable experience supporting both pets and their owners during stressful situations.
Special Interests and Skills:
Cat Welfare: Passionate about improving feline welfare. Larissa has hosted training nights called “Kisses Not Hisses,” helping cat foster carers build confidence working with shy or fearful cats, as well as teaching neonatal kitten care and bottle feeding techniques.
Cat Support: Highly knowledgeable in cat behaviour and always happy to assist clients with feline-related questions and advice.
Social Media: Manages KSAH’s social media content and enjoys capturing behind-the-scenes moments around the clinic—especially the more unusual or “gross” surgeries.
Beyond the clinic: Larissa can usually be found op-shopping for vintage décor or cat-themed treasures. She also enjoys creating art projects using her skills as a SFX makeup artist, often with her cats nearby supervising. She has a special soft spot for disabled pets, with two of her three cats being blind.
Kim RVN
Kim is our Customer Relations Officer and Veterinary Nurse, bringing decades of experience and a deep passion for animal welfare to the Karrinyup Small Animal Hospital team. She graduated with her veterinary nursing qualification in New Zealand in 2001 before gaining experience in Queensland, later completing a Bachelor of Business in 2008.
Her career has taken her across the UK and South Africa, where she married and started her family, before eventually settling in Western Australia. In 2026, Kim re-registered as a Veterinary Nurse in WA, allowing her to further support both the KSAH team and our patients with her extensive knowledge and experience.
Special Interests and Skills:
Animal Welfare & Rescue: Passionate about animal rescue and rehabilitation, regularly fostering senior and unwell cats and dogs from Cat Haven and Dogs’ Refuge Home.
Client Support: Dedicated to supporting clients with compassion and understanding while helping create a welcoming and supportive clinic environment.
Advocacy & Community Support: Strong advocate for responsible pet ownership and the importance of desexing pets, while actively supporting local shelters through donations, fostering, and community involvement.
Beyond the clinic: Kim shares life with her husband, three children, two permanent cats, two pet rats, three chickens, and a rotating cast of foster kittens from Cat Haven. Many clients may also recognise her dog, Nanna, who came to KSAH as a stray through the City of Stirling Rangers in very poor condition. Thanks to the dedication and care from both her family and the KSAH team, Nanna is now thriving and enjoying life in her forever home.
