Yes, we run by appointments only for all services. If you would like to book an appointment time, please call us on 9447 4644. Alternatively, you can email us on [email protected]

What does a cat or dog desexing entail?

We have page that describes this in detail, see here. If you require assistance paying for desexing, you can apply to the Ruby Benjamin Animal Foundation.

Do you offer a pensioner concession discount?

Pension concession cardholders are not eligible for discounts.

Can I buy prescription
medication over
the counter?

We are required by law to examine each of our patients before we dispense any medications to be used in the treatment of illnesses or disease. This means we are not able to dispense prescription medications over the counter if we have not seen your pet for their current problem or within the last 6 months.

Why do I need an appointment to get medication for my
pet's chronic condition?

As per the answer above, we are required by law to examine each of our patients before we dispense any medications to be used in the treatment of illnesses or disease. This means we are not able to dispense prescription medications if we have not seen your pet for their current problem or within the last 6 months.

Do you do vaccines?

Yes we do. We have C5 and C3 vaccines available for dogs, Fe5 and Fe3 vaccines available for cats and Filavac annual vaccine for rabbits.
We do not offer FIV or Rabies vaccines.

Are you able to monitor
my pet overnight?

We do not offer overnight care. Patients who require constant overnight monitoring are referred to one of the emergency vet clinics nearby with the option to be transferred back into our care in the morning.

Why do you charge a script fee for my pet?

A script dispensing fee covers the veterinarian's time for writing the prescription and reviewing your pet's medical history. This fee ensures the professional time and expertise needed to provide your pet with appropriate and safe medication.

Reviewing your pet's medical records is crucial to ensure the prescribed medication is safe and effective, allowing the veterinarian to check for potential drug interactions, allergies, or underlying health conditions that may affect the treatment.
Should I get pet insurance?
Veterinary healthcare has advanced exponentially in the past few decades, ensuring that pets are able to access the same modern, life saving equipment and technology as humans.

However, as pet healthcare is not supported by Medicare, it does mean that the costs of accessing these facilities will need to be fully funded by pet owners.

Pet insurance can be a valuable asset in these circumstances, offering:
  • Financial Protection against unexpected expenses during sudden illness or injury
  • Peace of Mind to focus on your pet's health
  • Support for being proactive about your pet's health

If your pet has been given a clean bill of health after their visit with us, you can activate a free 30 day cover with Trupanion within 24 hours of your vet visit while you consider whether to purchase continuous cover thereafter.
