We believe that everyone should be able to enjoy coming along to these fun classes without the restriction of cost.

Puppy Class Information:

Our classes are run every Saturday morning from 10am - 11am.

Your puppy must be between the age of 8 weeks and 5 months on the date of their first class.

Your puppy must be up to date with their vaccinations.  We recommend you wait at least 2 weeks after their first vaccine before coming to classes.  Your puppy does not need to of had ALL their puppy vaccines, but they need to be up to date.  You MUST bring a vaccine certificate with you on your first lesson.  We cannot let you attend if you forget the certificate.

To minimise risk to puppies, it is important that NO puppies are being walked or taken to the park, beach etc.  They should only be isolated to the backyard and puppy class.

Bring your puppy on a lead and collar

The classes are rotational classes, so you can join at any time.  You come for 4 weeks in a row.

The class is outdoors, therefore we do not have a class if it is raining.

What to expect?

Puppy classes are not just about training the puppy.  Puppy classes incorporates:

Puppy training basics - Sit, Come, Drop etc in an environment that is challenging for your puppy.

Training YOU the owner.  Although you may of had dogs before, there are a lot of information new and old, that you may not even realise.  Each week a different lesson of around 15-20minutes is explained while your pup is playing and you are given a handout to take away for you.  We cover responsible dog ownership, frequently asked questions, behaviour and also a talk about veterinary things.

Socialisation - Studies have shown that dogs that did not socialise at a young age (typically 8-16weeks) never learn to properly socialise with other animals.  This is why puppy classes was created, so that puppies that were not fully vaccinated could play together while minimising risk of disease.  Even if you have another dog, we still recommend your puppy comes to classes so they learn to socialise with other breeds, colours, and sizes.  Also they get the added benefit of socialising with strangers.  Your pup will have a great time, and you will meet other people at the same time and have fun too.

What is the cost?

There is no cost at all.  You do not have to be a client of Karrinyup Small Animal Hospital to attend puppy classes.
