Karrinyup Small Animal Hospital have invested in the latest blood machines so that you can get results for your pets fast while keeping the price on blood testing lower than through external laboratories.
Using an external laboratory means that the cost is higher, and usually we have to wait a day before we get the results, with our new in house blood machines we can do the testing quickly and for a better price.
Our blood machines consist of:
Haematology - This tests for the different cells in the blood such as white blood cells, red blood cells, platelets and the breakdown of those cells.
Biochemistry - This tests for all the biochemical parameters in the body. This is useful to look for conditions such as liver failure, heart conditions, kidney disease and more.
Blood gas/Electrolytes - This machine tests for the blood gases in the body which tells us whether the body is in respiratory alkalosis/acidosis, metabolic alkalosis/acidosis or normal. This helps with our diagnosis.
Coagulation - This machine tests for PT and PTT which basically tells us how fast the blood is clotting. This is extremely important as we get a result quickly (within 15 minutes) and therefore we can treat your pet quickly.
